CHERRY REALKEY-TECHNOLOGY

CHERRY RealKey analog technology - or in short CHERRY RK - is a completely new approach for reading
key signals. Instead of digitally scanning the switching points, each key is simply connected
to the analog controller. This results in as yet unprecedented advantages
over any existing technology:

No delay The signal is read in realtime at the press of a button.
Full-N-Key rollover All the keys can be read simultaneously.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY HAS ITS LIMITATIONS

The performance of digital controller technology has systemic limitations. In terms of speed and precision
in signal processing, this technology is not able to provide an optimum performance.
The weaknesses of digital technology:

Delay Unnecessary time is wasted between pressing the button
and processing the signal.
Key rollover Only a certain number of keys
can be read out simultaneously.
Ghosting Ghosting effect is likely to occur.

With CHERRY RealKey technology
there are different voltages at the individual
conductor tracks. When the circuit is closed
by the press of a button, the controller detects how much current is flowing. So each key
on the keyboard is read analogously
in realtime by the controller.

The result

This means that the response time between pressing the key and signal processing takes only 1 millisecond instead of the previous average of 20 milliseconds.

Most keyboards still use digital technology. Here, a controller with continuous pulses scans the individual contacts of the switch matrix to detect whether a key has been pressed and thus a circuit has been closed.

The result

When a key is pressed, the controller unit must first calculate and process various routines. An ordinary keyboard with digital technology needs approximately
20 milliseconds to do this.
